Langstraat Energie: the development by a local energy cooperative of a solar panel project at a landfill

The local energy cooperative Langstraat Energie Coöperatie has been established in order to create – together with the residents and businesses of the municipality of Waalwijk in The Netherlands – a sustainable society. Among other things, Langstraat Energie wants to achieve this by developing a solar park at the former landfill in Waalwijk. The idea is to develop a solar park by using a specific Dutch tax arrangement, the so called “postcoderoosregeling”. That arrangement results in residents and small businesses which are living or are established in a certain postalcode area nearby the solar park, having the possibility to pay less energy taxes. At least 350 households or small businesses in Waalwijk (or surrounding municipalities) can participate. The project is likely to be realized mid-2019.
